User Evaluation Research: Interview 5

How old are you?
31

How often do you travel on planes?
Rarely

Do you consider yourself to be punctual? Or are you often running late?
Punctual

If you had to wait in an airport, would you use any built-in entertainment, or would you bring your own? Why?
Probably both. I’ll usually have something to entertain the kids, but if it’s a long wait having something to watch would be good.

What do you think of when you hear airport entertainment?
Televisions, restaurants and bars

What is the most interesting piece of airport entertainment you have seen or heard of?
I’ve heard of a few airports with indoor children’s playgrounds which would be very handy.

Imagine a large scale, physical battleships game. Without any further explanation of the idea, how do you think it would work?
Like regular battleships but with people separated by a large, physical barrier. The playing area might be a painted section of floor space.

The game is designed to work with an actual pool and proper battleships in the water. What do you think of this idea? Do you see any issues with it?
Sounds like an interesting idea. If the game uses an actual pool it would require some maintenance.

Would you play this particular game if it was in an airport? Why? Why not?
Depends if it is child-friendly. If my children aren’t with me I’d probably give it a go just to see how it works.

The game is played in two different areas of the terminal. You touch on your screen, and it attacks the battleships in the other person’s pool, and vice versa. What do you think of this control method? Do you think this would be engaging?
If it’s really easy to use. I’m not too good with technology so if I can’t understand it when I first play it I’ll probably give up or get bored. I’d be happy to let my kids have a go if I needed to keep them entertained.

How do you imagine the control screen would work?
I assume it would be a large touch screen which explains the game as you go along.

Now that you have a general overview of the whole concept, do you have any suggested improvement?
My oldest 2 children both have smart phones so maybe being able to connect and play through other devices would make it more accessible.
