User Evaluation Research: Interview 3
How old are you?
18
How often do you travel on planes?
In the past year I have travelled on two international flights, but other than that I use to travel often domestically.
Do you consider yourself to be punctual? Or are you often running late? I am punctual in general.
If you had to wait in an airport, would you use any built-in entertainment, or would you bring your own? Why?
I would bring my own because it’s easy to use and I can continue using whatever device I have on the plane.
What do you think of when you hear airport entertainment?
Wifi.
What is the most interesting piece of airport entertainment you have seen or heard of?
Wifi, because I’m a social butterfly and I need internet all the time.
Imagine a large scale, physical battleships game. Without any further explanation of the idea, how do you think it would work?
A hologram device.
The game is designed to work with an actual pool and proper battleships in the water. What do you think of this idea? Do you see any issues with it?
I visualise people getting soaked. I can see getting wet becoming an issue.
Would you play this particular game if it was in an airport? Why? Why not?
I probably would, because the game battleships in general is fun. A large scale would improve gameplay and entertainment value.
The game is played in two different areas of the terminal. You touch on your screen, and it attacks the battleships in the other person’s pool, and vice versa. What do you think of this control method? Do you think this would be engaging?
I think this control method would be very engaging because users would be forced to pay more attention to their screen and what is going on in the game without their opponent opposite them.
How do you imagine the control screen would work?
I imagine the touch screen would be the size of an A4 piece of paper. The classic battleship grid would appear and there would be basic touch control. I imagine the screen would ask for confirmation before you send your next attack. I think there should also be a timer on the screen for each turn to make sure the game keeps a constant pace.
Now that you have a general overview of the whole concept, do you have any suggested improvement?
A webcam and mic to see and talk to your opponent would be ideal. Also animations on the touch screen when you hit or miss your opponent’s battleships.
